Chesapeake City Pet Parade and Paw Crawl
It's almost time for another festive, darling and creative pet parade here in Chesapeake City!
For years, an annual pet parade where animal lovers and their four-legged friends march down Bohemia Avenue and loop around Pell Gardens was hosted by the Chesapeake City Chamber of Commerce. This year's event on April 23 will kick off at 11 a.m.
Wearing creative and often hilarious costumes, owners and their pets will strut their stuff for the judges to win prizes and bragging rights in various categories, including best theme, best dressed and matching outfits. Some years have seen as many as 70 pets strolling down the parade route. Parade entry is $5 per owner and unlimited pets can walk in the parade. All proceeds benefit Cecil County Animal Services (CCAS), a local shelter here in Chesapeake City.
New this year on parade day is a "paw crawl" at local pubs and shops. People can bounce to locations throughout town to drink and shop. And there will be vendors along Bohemia Avenue starting in front of the Cafe on the Bay. CCAS will be there with some of their rescue pups, as well as fundraising baskets that will be raffled off to benefit the shelter.
As you pop into various Chesapeake City's pubs, you'll find live music, fun drink specials and beautiful water views. Enjoy drinks on the deck at the Chesapeake Inn or stop by the Hole in the Wall Bar at Bayard House. Of course, make sure you crawl your way back to Rummur Lounge here at the Inn at the Canal. At our intimate cocktail bar, guests can enjoy wine, beer and spirits in a relaxed atmosphere. Our creative cocktail menu features a variety of rum specialty drinks made with a unique assortment of rums from around the world.
